Help / Plan the regular season

Plan the regular season

Set the quota, nights, and hours, then preview and commit onto the board.

How to

  1. Create a hidden season (or pick one) so setup does not show on the public board. Set it current only when you are ready.
  2. Set season start and “try to end regular season by.” Preview defaults to that window. Playoffs can run after.
  3. Games each team plays (default 12). Set a division to 0 if it is already done this year — it will not be scheduled or seeded. Games already on the board count toward the quota.
  4. Cross-division play counts toward each side’s total.
  5. Play days and earliest/latest start. Flood minutes sit between back-to-back OnRink games on the same pad. A Takedown on the rink calendar is already the scrape.
  6. This pass: next 3 games per team (or 2 / 4 / 6 / all remaining). Use a short batch while later ice may still change for youth or tournaments. Run it again for the next 3 when that ice is real. Games already on the board count.
  7. Or write the whole season internally, then set Public schedule to first 3 games per team. Captains, desk, and the public only see that window. Raise it to 6, 7, 8, … when later ice is real. Commissioners still see every game (marked Hidden on the public board).
  8. Team links live on each team’s settings page (Schedule links). The planner keeps those clubs off overlapping ice and tries to stack them back-to-back on the same rink.
  9. Facility groups on League (or here) keep a club off ROCK and BSA the same date when those are different buildings.
  10. Preview, then commit. Commit writes games. It does not schedule playoffs. While the season is still hidden, Clear schedule wipes those games so you can run the planner again. Hidden drafts do not email captains; emails start after the season is current.

You need open ice from the rink calendar for a useful preview. If Ice cannot read Dash, map pads on League settings or fix the date window.

The planner does not place games on holidays or holiday weekends (Labor Day weekend is Saturday–Monday, so Sunday and Monday stay empty even if Dash still lists ice).

A team never gets two games on the same night. Linked clubs can still be stacked back-to-back (two different teams, one night).

The planner spreads each club across the week and tries to give teams a similar number of Sundays, Mondays, and so on. A preferred day or cannot-play weekday on team settings overrides that.

You do not have to write the whole season at once. Next 3 per team now, then the next 3 later, keeps you off ice that is not actually open yet.

If you do write the whole board, Public schedule still lets you show only the first 3 (then 6, 7, 8…) until you are ready. Direct links to hidden games 404 for everyone except the commissioner.
